My name is Kelsey Doell and I am a Registered Social Worker (RSW). I hold a Master Degree in Social Work (MSW) and I am a Certified Play Therapist (CPT) with the Canadian Association for Play Therapy. I completed my play therapy training through the Rocky Mountain Play Therapy Institute. I see clients of all ages, however, I work primarily with children (four years old and over) to address issues related to childhood abuse/neglect/adversity, anxiety, depression/social withdrawal, grief and loss, life adjustments such as parental separation or moving, and anger or aggressive behaviors. Play therapy is similar to adult therapy or counselling, but because children may not yet have the skills to engage in ‘talk therapy’, we approach topics through play. This builds on the playful way children naturally communicate and creates a safe environment for children to be able to freely express something that might be troublesome for them. Play therapy is also effective for teens as it incorporates art and other creative self-expression in therapy. I integrate attachment theory and family systems theory into my practice. Please note that I require consent from both the child’s parents or legal guardian (or legal paperwork awarding one parent sole decision-making authority) to proceed with therapy. I also offer parenting support/coaching to problem-solve and implement effective strategies for those challenging moments of parenting. I do take clients of all ages for conventional counselling. I practice from a strengths-based model, informed by emotionally focused therapy. I have professional experience providing services related to anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts and relationship boundaries.

Teresa will see anyone 6+ years old and above. Her work with children is largely infused with art -based therapy.

I believe we all have the right to feel good about ourselves, our relationships, and our everyday lives. Many of my clients seek support on issues ranging from anxiety, relationships, and feelings of alienation, to major life changes such as separation, loss, trauma, addiction, or a change in social status. I work with adults of all ages, as well as teens, children, and families. I have always worked with people from a diverse range of backgrounds and identities, and strive to create a safe place for individuals from the LGBTQ2S+ community and all cultural backgrounds.

Some of the therapy methods I use include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which we can use to change negative thought patterns such as ‘racing thoughts’ and negative self-talk. I also use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which we might use to set goals around living life according to your values. I also use Narrative Therapy for processing trauma and other difficult experiences, as well as for creating other, more manageable narratives of what you might be going through. With young people in particular, I often infuse art-based therapies into our sessions, and am developing my skills in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), which is aimed at managing big emotions and impulsive thoughts, including those around self-harm.

My work with you begins with the knowledge that you are the expert of your own life. My goal is to work alongside you to develop a ‘way of seeing’, and a plan, that brings you hope.

PLEASE NOTE- RACHEL SEES CLIENTS 16+

Welcome! I’m Rachel and I am a clinical counsellor who has always felt a deep pull to serve on the frontlines of mental health and emotional well-being. I have practiced as a counsellor in rural, community-based and private practice settings and held the roles of Addiction Counsellor and Clinical Counsellor. My approach is characterized by curiosity and wanting to understand your experience. A deep desire to understand for me is undoubtedly tied to a previous career in which I worked in academia for over a decade supporting social and behavioral research studies at the University of Saskatchewan. I was fortunate to be surrounded by and work alongside researchers who wanted to enhance quality of life through programs, services and policy by remaining close to and learning from the human condition. While I have worked with folks facing a variety of struggles, due to popular demand and personal interest, I continue to seek out training and professional development in the areas of addiction, neurodiversity and couples’ therapy. I have completed Level 1 and Level 2 training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and use the GMCT in therapy work. Recently I also became an ADHD-Certified Clinical Services Provider. More than any tool, technique, or modality, I believe firmly in the power of the therapeutic alliance and prioritize each person feeling comfortable to be themselves. I care about the work itself but also the way in which it happens. It is an honour to be let in to the world of another and witness change. What I value most about working with others is the opportunity to learn from and connect with the human family and support others through the toughness of life. Irrespective of one’s age, socioeconomic status, sexuality, spirituality, culture, or ability, I believe we all deserve and benefit from mental health support and a sense of belonging. I am honoured to support you, wherever you are at. Areas of support: Addiction & substance use Anxiety Burnout Compassion Fatigue & Caregiver Fatigue Communication Depression Distress tolerance & stress management Grief & loss Neurodiversity (ADHD, neurodivergent burnout) Pain & illness Relationships (romantic, platonic, family dynamics, coworker) Self-injury Suicidal ideation Trauma Approaches utilized: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Gottman Method Couples Therapy Motivational Interviewing Narrative Therapy Psychodynamic and Attachment Theory
